What Our Customers Say:
VerifiedDanno K2023-11-30What a Camp little Amanya at Amboseli park!! Our night at the Little Amanya campsite was one of the highlights of our trip. The welcoming facilities and pleasant atmosphere of the camp made for a peaceful stay. The room was not only comfortable but also had all the amenities one could need for a good night's sleep. The food provided at the camp was excellent and we were quite well fed. The quality and care given to the presentation of the cuisine contributed to a great experience. In addition, the camp's facilities and services far exceed what we hoped for, which greatly enhanced our experience. The warmth of the camp was only enhanced by the hospitality and attentiveness of the staff, making it a stop on our trip that will not soon be forgotten. In conclusion, our stay at Little Amanya Camp was amazing and we will always remember its scenic beauty, delicious food and lovely staff with great fondness.VerifiedJohn B2023-11-04Little Amanya Camp, A Romantic Retreat in the Heart of Amboseli National Park From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel comfortable and at home. We had a breathtaking view of Mount Kilimanjaro from our front porch and our tent was a comfortable retreat. Every morning was like opening a postcard. The stars were a sight to behold and the sounds of nature were soothing at night. The wildlife was amazing. Apart from lions lounging in the sun, we witnessed elegant giraffes, herds of elephants and much more. Our guide was passionate about the area's conservation and fauna, in addition to being knowledgeable. Sundowner cocktails with Kilimanjaro in the background were the highlight of a great meal. It was the perfect romantic retreat. I wholeheartedly support Little Amanya Camp. This is the place to go if you want an extraordinary safari experience with a touch of luxury. With full hearts and a strong desire to return, we left. Don't pass up this Amboseli hidden gem!VerifiedThao T2023-08-22Glamping with a view of Mt Kili and the Milky Way My husband and I arrived in Nairobi a few days early before our trip to the Masai Mara. So we drove out to Amboseli for one night to see if we can catch a view of Mt Kili while we were in Kenya. We knew it was a 50/50 shot in the dark that it would happen, but we traveled all this way from the United States so thought...why not? Communicating with the staff at Little Amanya Camp was easy and all done through email. They were quick to answer my questions and we paid for our accommodations via PayPal. They handled our transfer from Nairobi and Collins from Southern Cross Safaris came to pick us up at our hotel. Little did we know that Collins was going to become one of our life-long friends. We had hours with him on the ride and back and we all learned so much from each other about our different cultures. One of my favorite memories from our entire trip. Another great highlight was seeing a giraffe cross the road! Have you ever seen a twiga cross a road?! It happened before we even got to the camp. When we arrived at Little Amanya Camp, we had a very simple, easy check-in and the tent was exactly like the pictures. It was so cool-looking and very clean. They keep the tent and grounds really nice and tidy. The decor was nice! It was so peaceful and quiet at the camp, we were able to just sit out on our patio and take in the scenery. Kili didn't cooperate with us. The clouds were in the way and we were only able to see the base. Even though seeing Kili was the goal of our trip, the vibe and experience we had at Little Amanya Camp took over and we were loving every minute of the tranquility. We watched the locals just wandering through the plains in the distance. Even spotted a twiga or two. Life there seemed so peaceful. As the sun set, the clouds and colors in the sky were just magnificent. We made our way to the bar and grabbed a couple of drinks. The staff pours the drinks so don't expect a bartender to make any craft cocktails. Drinks are very basic and limited but the spirits they have on hand our affordable and worth it. We took our drinks out to the bonfire and met another couple from the US. They too were only spending one night at Little Amanya Camp and shared with us the last two weeks of their adventure. We were having such a good conversation that by the time we looked up at the sky, we got in 5 minutes of the Milky Way and had to leave for our 7:30pm bush dinner. A driver in a 4x4 waited for us as he took us off-site to a location where dinner was all set up for just the two of us. We were so amazed driving up as we had a small staff to ourselves, a mini bonfire, a mini bar full of drinks, a mini buffet, a beautiful table setting, candles lighting the path, and lanterns that lit up in the tree. THIS was how I thought a bush dinner was going to be and they passed it with flying colors. It was the best setup we've ever had! The first time my husband and I tried to have a private romantic dinner like this was on our vacation to Bali in 2015. They were supposed to do a candlelit setup for us but the reservation did not get confirmed and we missed it. So we tried a couple more times on different vacations and they always seemed to fall short of our expectations. Our dinner with Little Amanya Camp was the first time it worked out the way we wanted and it was our best experience yet! Everything was perfect. After dinner, we arrived back at the camp and saw that the sky full of stars were still there waiting for us. We got so many wonderful shots on my iphone 14 pro max. There was hardly any light pollution and we got to relax below the billions of stars on display. It was an incredibly magical evening and one we will never forget. The next day, due to time constraints, we didn't go into Amboseli National Park as we were saving the game drives for our trip in the Masai Mara. Instead, we visited a Maasai village and got to see how they lived. The camp and village are located near the park entrance that most drivers don't use. So it was nice not having to deal with a lot of tourists. We did a road trip a couple years ago from Florida to California and had a desire to stay in an off-grid camp, but we had an electric vehicle so didn't want to take the chance of relying on solar power to charge our car. We were finally able to have that experience in Amboseli and it was so nice to be away from everything. The camp is run on solar power and a bit off-grid, but not true off-grid since we still had internet connection with our phone service and had electricity. Still keep in mind that electricity is limited. I'm glad we stayed at Little Amanya Camp. There wasn't a lot of information to go by, but we discovered a YouTube video by Dave Mani and it sealed the deal for us. If you're looking for a hotel with luxury accommodations and other accommodations around, this is not for you. If you're looking to be away from the hustle and bustle but still want some creature comforts, this is the place. There is a sink, flushing toilet, and heated shower (no bucket baths, whew) in the tents. Tip: Be patient with the locals and services you book/receive. Kenya is known to not have time constraints so if you're looking to do anything on time, please reset your expectations. Schedules are not always guaranteed and if you're very strict on it, you'll be greatly disappointed. Some things we did were on schedule but others took a bit longer, so leave buffers of time where you need it. This is not a complaint whatsoever as we had the best time here, but we noticed this all around Kenya. Also, make sure to buy a sim card/esim to make calls or get internet access. Download an offline map of the area on Google Maps in case you lose signal and can't find the camp. The camp's Google Map directions are pretty spot on. If you're planning a bush dinner in their winter time, expect it to be a bit cold. We went during August and you definitely need to bundle up. Also, every tent had a view of Mount Kiliminjaro on their front porch.VerifiedJohan T2023-06-27Absolute shambles! Hardly had any Power during a two day stay. No Power = No hot water for shower/bath. The signature units had no bathplugs - therefor unable to use advertised outside baths.... 50-60% of items on the menus were not available that weekend. Staff friendly and tried very hard to satisfy, although with everything else it was simply unenjoyable.VerifiedFaye Lenette2022-12-04Great service, really comfortable accommodation & beautiful surroundings We stayed at one of the beautiful tents, that feel more like a small villa. Great shower, very comfortable double beds and even a bath tub on the veranda with view on the Kilimanjaro. The team is really lovely and help you with everything. There's nothing negative about this place, we can really recommend staying here. It will be a great experience!
